Lardos to Pylona and Kalathos

A 8.0 km (5 miles) walk using tracks and roads to visit the village of Pylona

Pylona is a typical Greek village sitting in the hills behind the Mamari mountains. Unspoilt by tourism, this offers an insight into the quiet and tranquil way of life that is associated with the island. The village has a magnificent church and there are some dramatic views of the coastline as one descends back down to Kalathos

Ladiko Bay and Anthony Quinn are secluded coves south of Faliraki that some would describe as paradise. It is certainly worth soaking up the delights of these bays before continuing along a challenging cliff side path over to the southern side of Faliraki to where a chapel presides over a picturesque harbour

Moni Ipseni is a working female monastery in the hills above Lardos. This really is a journey into another world and something well worth the pilgrimage. The return is along tracks through the forest which then leads down to Glystra beach. A very rewarding walk.

Massari to Kalathos via Moni Kammeri and the Skoutoularis Gorge

A 16.1 km (10 miles) walk full of insight and wonder

This walk, although extensive, has so much to discover. The 12th century chapel of Moni Kymmeri nestled high in the hills, the awe-inspiring Skoutoularis Gorge and the iconic Italian Bridge. There are citrus orchards to walk through, the ever abundant olive groves, pine forests and panoramic views. This really is a day of adventure.

Easy Walk from Pefkos to Lardos

A simple 4.5 mile walk to the village of Lardos

This is such a simple walk and one to introduce any newcomer to Pefkos to something more of the nature of the island and its people. Lardos is a working village sited a mile or so inland with a busy square that is the hubbub of activity. The route passes by the Stafilia mountain where the ruins of Lardos castle can be seen looking out across the valley.

A Circular Walk to the Monastery of Prophet Elias

A 2 mile circular walk from Pefkos village to the Monastery of Prophet Elias

Sitting high above Pefkos is a tiny monastery of Prophet Elias. This walk provides a simple circular route to reach this 12th century chapel. There is quite a climb for the final ascent but nothing that an average fit person can achieve and the views from here are well worth the effort exerted.

Walk to Kleoboulos' Tomb

A 3 mile walk from Lindos to the tomb at the tip of the opposite peninsular

A relatively easy walk out from Lindos, around the bay to the peninsular that is capped with a tomb. This is known as Kleoboulos' tomb, the 6th century BC Lindian whose statue is above Lindos, just off the main road. Kleoboulos is recognised as one of the seven sages of ancient Greece.

Walk to the Malona Waterfall

Although this waterfall is dry for many months of the year, the expedition is worth the effort to witness the calcification of the surrounding rocks and trees. This walk also passes the monastery of Moni Eleomonitria and provides some amazing scenery through the river valley

A 5.5 mile walk up into the hills behind Kiotari to the village of Asklipio

A scenic walk meanders up into the hills behind Kiotari to the sleepy little village of Asklipio with its folklore museum, enchanting church full of medieval frescos and above it all, the castle. There is a broad track throughout and navigation is easy. Return is by the road but this has some equally spectacular views that would be missed in the fleeting glimpses from a car.

Archangelos to Haraki Coast Walk

A 7.5 mile walk along the Rhodes coast from Archangelos to Haraki

A walk of discovery along the rocky coastline to Haraki. The spectacular views along this section can only be discovered by either walking or from a boat and include the magnificent rock arch that juts out into the sea. A large section of this route needs to be navigated by following cairns and red and blue markers that are painted in the rocks.
